It may also promote a feeling of well-being and relaxation. Lobelia is a flowering plant native to the eastern portion of North America. Also called Indian tobacco, lobelia features delicate violet, pink and white blossoms. Native Americans often smoked lobelia for its medicinal benefits and as a substitute for tobacco. Lobelia contains a component similar to nicotine called lobeline.
